Portsmouth English Language School offers courses to junior learners (11-16 year-olds) during the peak season (July and August) as well as out of season (September to June).
The programmes are carefully planned and tailored to the specific needs of the groups. We like to work closely with the home institutions so as to ensure that the course participants have an enjoyable time and fulfilling learning experience. Therefore, it is advised to contact PELS well in advance when wishing to book a course.

Academic programme
We have our own syllabus which reflects the competencies and capabilities stated in the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) for languages as well as traditions and modern life in English-speaking countries.
Programme details:
- 10 or 15 lessons per week (11-16 year-olds).
- Maximum of 12 students per class (unless larger closed groups).
- Learning materials, reports and certificates provided.
Activities programme
A trip abroad would not be complete without fun activities. Our social, sports and cultural activities are planned to provide opportunities to junior learners to actively use new language and interact with each other as well as other people.
Programme details:
- Full-day and half-day trips (please note that the inclusion of entrance fees to attractions is subject to the agreed fees).
- Day-time activities (sports, creative workshops, local visits, etc.)
- All activities are supervised by leaders (1 for a group of up to 12 learners)
