Portsmouth English Language School offers courses to native and non-native speakers of English who wish to gain insight into Second Language Acquisition, English Language Teaching approaches and methodology and revise and add to their knowledge of English language systems.
The programmes are planned to meet the specific needs of the groups. We like to work closely with the home institutions so as to ensure that the course participants have an enjoyable time and fulfilling learning experience. Therefore, it is advised to contact PELS well in advance when wishing to book a course.

Academic programme
We have our own syllabus which reflects the needs of the groups or the Anglia Certificate for International Teachers of English if the learners wish to sit the exam.
Programme details:
- 15 lessons per week.
- Maximum of 12 students per class (unless larger closed groups).
- 2 class observation with follow-up feedback sessions.
- Learning materials, reports and certificates provided.
Activities programme
A programme with activities can be planned on request. They are ideal opportunities for learners from abroad to interact with each other as well as other people and immerse in the culture.
Programme details:
- Full-day or half-day trips (please note that the inclusion of entrance fees to attractions is subject to the agreed fees).
- Day-time activities (sports, creative workshops, local visits, etc.).
