· Teacher Training
Portsmouth English Language School offers courses to native and non-native speakers of English who wish to gain insight into Second Language Acquisition, English Language Teaching approaches and methodology and revise and add to their knowledge of English language systems.
Academic programme details:
- 15 lessons per week.
- Maximum of 12 students per class (unless larger closed groups).
- 2 class observation with follow-up feedback sessions.
- Learning materials, reports and certificates provided.
Activities programme details:
- Full-day or half-day trips (please note that the inclusion of entrance fees to attractions is subject to the agreed fees).
- Day-time activities (sports, creative workshops, local visits, etc.).
· Young Learners
The school offers courses to junior learners (6-10 year-olds and 11-16 year-olds) during the peak season (July and August) as well as out of season (September to June).
Academic programme details:
- 10 or 15 lessons per week (6-10 year-olds and 11-16 year-olds).
- Maximum of 12 students per class (unless larger closed groups).
- Learning materials, reports and certificates provided.
Activities programme details:
- Full-day and half-day trips (please note that the inclusion of entrance fees to attractions is subject to the agreed fees).
- Day-time activities (sports, creative workshops, local visits, etc.)
- All activities are supervised by leaders (1 for a group of up to 12 learners)

Courses start every Monday (except Bank Holidays). After you have paid your administration fee, you will be given an initial assessment to determine which class is the most suitable to develop your level and understanding of English. The initial test will include a grammar and reading test, writing test and speaking test.
Accommodation
PELS works directly with local residents to provide 2 main types of accommodation:
· Home stay accommodation (Host families)
To gain maximum exposure to the language, we normally encourage students to stay with one of our carefully selected host families with whom students can converse in English.
We have a number of different host families available, the rooms are priced according to the size, the location and the standard of the facilities.

All accommodation is subject to £40 booking fee.
· Shared houses and self-contained flats
Students are able to share accommodation with other students or live by themselves.
This arrangement is on a self-catering bases and the property is fully-furnished. There is limited contact with the accommodation provider. Rooms are available from £85-£115 per week, inclusive of domestic bills (gas, water, electricity) according to the size, the standard of the facilities and location.
Students need to leave the home stay accommodation once they have finished their courses.
